Approval lists are the platforms a state allows. Registries are self-filed. Lists of common platforms are examples a state publishes without endorsing anyone.

        Questions

        Quick answers.

Which online notary platform works in the most states?

BlueNotary. Notaries in 44 states and DC can use it, more than any other platform. 29 official state lists name BlueNotary.

Is online notarization legal and valid?

Yes. Most states now have their own online notarization laws, and documents notarized online by a commissioned notary are generally accepted across the US. The office receiving your document can have its own rules, so check with them if you’re unsure.

How much does online notarization cost?

Most big platforms charge $25 for one notarization. On BlueNotary, each extra seal is $8 and each extra signer is $5, with no page fees. Watch for page fees on long documents and extra fees for signers without a US SSN on some platforms.

        How does online notarization work?

You upload your document, confirm your identity with an ID check, then meet a commissioned notary on a live video call. You sign on screen, the notary adds an electronic seal, and you download the finished document. You can start any time of day.

What do I need to get something notarized online?

A phone or computer with a camera, a government photo ID, and your document as a file. On BlueNotary, signers abroad without a US Social Security number can verify with a face scan matched to their passport.

Can I use an online notary if I live in another state or abroad?

Yes. A commissioned online notary can notarize for signers wherever they are in the US, and often for signers abroad, for documents headed to the US.

What is the best online notary platform for new notaries?

BlueNotary. It has a free plan that includes the eSeal, the digital certificate and the eJournal, so a new notary can start without buying anything else. It also works in more states than any other platform.

        Still deciding?

Try it free. Keep the platform that keeps up with you.

Free to start for notaries. One-off notarizations are $25.
